What's going on?
Yes, it's been awhile since I last posted. And a lot has happened over the past two weeks, plenty worth mentioning. But...my eye sight has been less than perfect, making detail work like typing and uploading pictures challenging. More on that later. First and foremost, news and updates on Henry.
He's waving! And clapping! So cute. He learned how to wave bye-bye last weekend at a friend's birthday party as we were leaving. Open close, open close with his hand outstretched. Perfect. And he has mastered opening his arms real wide, and then closing them with a hand clap. Not repetitive clapping, but a big wonderful clap. Perfect. Henry can also stick his arms up, causing you to stick yours up too in the classic "SO BIG!", which he thinks is hilarious. Also tickling his funny bone these days is Ring Around the Rosy with a big "all fall down" at the end.
We've been spending our days swinging, swimming in the baby pool, and just enjoying the gorgeous outdoor weather. I'm still working on finding day care for Henry when I go back to work part time in the fall, for 10 hours a week working with the guidance counselor on anti-bullying curriculum and character education. So that means Henry and I have been visiting day cares and preschools. We've found a few that we really like, but availability is a challenge. So we continue to work on it and hopefully will find a solution soon.
Two weeks ago we traveled for what will be the last time for a while to Florida to visit family. I also had PRK, a derivative of LASIK eye surgery in order to correct my dependency on contact or glasses since the first grade. Unfortunately, this surgery requires a longer recovery period and so my vision is not great yet. I'm having trouble seeing details, like signs in the road, and also anything close up like reading or computer work. So any spelling errors in this post can be attributed to eyesight, not my poor spelling skills. Hopefully I'll be seeing more clearly quickly. I'll keep you posted. Get it? Wow, bad blogging joke.
In Florida, Henry enjoyed swimming everyday, spending time with grandparents, great grandparents, aunts, uncles, and great aunts and great uncles. We took the opportunity to have a practice birthday party to celebrate Henry's first birthday. He did wondefully! Previously, with so many people and so much commotion, Henry found large family gatherings a little challenging at times. But at one year old, he handled himself like a pro. Opening presents? No sweat. Showing off my swimming moves? Like a champ. Having everyone sing Happy Birthday to me? So proud. Eating ice cream? You bet! Henry's real first birthday celebration is next weekend and we're so excited! We've got a little bit of planning yet to do, but we're excited so many of Henry's friends and family members will be here.
Pictures forth coming.....once I find the cord to our camera to upload. Entries with pictures are so much more exciting that entries without. Sorry about that.
