Big Milestone #2

(Big Milestone #1 post got published out of order, so check for it here if you're curious!)

This past weekend, Henry spent his last night in his crib and moved to his new big boy bed. Hurray for Henry - the transition was perfect, one of the easiest transitions he's made. I was nostalgic about him leaving his crib, but I knew it was something that needed to be done, as he was ready and we'll be needing the crib soon!

Last nights and mornings all snuggled in a cozy little crib:

We talked about moving to the big bed a few days before the big move, and Friday afternoon, after nap, we set up his big boy room. He helped us move pillows and blankets - and made funny "cheese" faces.

Turns out, jumping on the pile of pillows is great fun!
He "helped" daddy take apart the old crib and move it into New Baby's room. When he saw it and the changing table in that room, he said, "that's Henry's." We responded that "now it is going to be New Baby's, what a great big brother to share your crib." And he responded, "that's New Baby's, not Henry's." Thanks for making that very simple, Henry! :) We would have moved it out if it became an issue for him for a couple of months, but luckily we didn't have to.
Enjoying the final bed! He's so little in the big boy bed! We used our bed from our guest room rather than getting an new bed or a toddler bed. He's got plenty of room to grow.

Henry really loves the train blankets and pillows, and we've got some cute signs to hang up in his room to complete the decor.
We read books, said prayers, and sang songs in the new bed, going through our whole bedtime routine. I left the room, and we didn't hear a peep from him till morning! And we haven't had a problem since.

I've liked laying next to him to snuggle a little before bed for his routine, but I do miss rocking him. We moved the rocker to the living room until we have the nursery set up, but it's just not the same. I think I miss that more than him sleeping in his crib. He still calls for us when he wakes up in the morning and after nap, and is pretty much in the exact same position that we left him. I'm not sure he knows he can get out (the bed rails probably help with that)....and we're not telling him!

Two big projects now accomplished - he's a champ!
