one step at a time

Our baby took baby steps yesterday! He was practicing balancing outside yesterday at lunch, and decided to be brave and lift one foot up and move it forward. He did this twice, and but didn't want to transfer his weight. Later, in the house, I stood him up, and he took three little steps right into his mama's arms! So proud of you Henry and you brought tears to my eyes. Henry was really proud of himself too, as he was all smiles. My baby is learning to walk! A couple more times we practiced balancing, and he would look up to the sky like he was gathering the strength and you could see the little wheels moving in his head as he tried to figure it out. No other steps though. I tried a couple of times to get him on video, which we're going to keep handy now. We're still a bit away from more steps though, since when we prop him up without support, he mostly just wants to crumple and crawl. Luckily, Gabe was there to see him move his one foot at lunch, but unfortunately he didn't see Henry in the afternoon. And when Gabe got home from work, Henry was on to our tricks and wouldn't even stand by himself. He still only balances by himself without support for maybe 20-30 seconds. He'll let go on his own from a table, but only if he is distracted with a toy or food and doesn't realize what he's doing. He'll get there on his own time. What a big day Henry! One small step for Henry, one giant leap for the Brown Family!
