Henry "Lance" Brown

Family Bike Rides this weekend! As an early Father's Day present for Gabe, we found a bike trailer for Henry so that we could tour the neighborhood in style. Gabe put the trailer together, and of course we took it for a test drive. We found a helmet for me (Gabe already got one earlier this summer, just to be good role models for Henry), and we even found a teeny tiny one for Henry at Toys R Us. The age recommendation is 1+ and is the smallest that they make, but Henry's head is still too little. When he's not trying to take it off, the helmet falls over his face, and then he is able to take the whole helmet off. Needless to say, he doesn't like it at all and cries when we go to put it on. So once his head grows a little, we can put the helmet back on. In the meantime, bike rides around campus where there is less threat of traffic. He does, however, really like to ride in the trailer. We put some toys in there for him and that keeps him entertained, in addition to looking all around. Plus, with all the hard work being pulled around, a sippy cup is necessary for water breaks! What a life - you've got your toys and snacks and your mom to pull you around. Since Gabe rides his bike to work, we actually installed the trailer to my bike, but it turns out that it is easy enough to detach in the morning, so we might switch it. Although, its really not too difficult to pull Henry at all, and its really fun to look back and see what he's doing. And I do want to take him during the week. Weeeee, bike rides!
