Oklahoma Zoo

In Oklahoma, we spent a fun day at the zoo seeing animals that we don't see at our zoo, riding the train, playing on the park and spending quality time together as a family!

We loved watching this baby elephant roll, stand up on rocks, follow her parents around and eat.
Henry liked climbing on this statue of "Henry and Maggie elephants playing". Maggie was snoozing in her stroller so she couldn't play
Grams was the Cougar Whisperer. Henry just backed away and away. He's not so fond of animals that close, especially big cats with sharp teeth. Who can blame him, really?
Henry checked out most of the animals from Daddy's shoulders
And one of the coolest things was feeding the giraffes. I've never been this close to a giraffe, and certainly have never feed them, but you could get some lettuce and the giraffes would uncurl their long tongues and lap them up.
Henry went with me and wasn't shy about feeding the giraffe the first piece of lettuce.
But then the tongue actually touched his fingers, and that was pretty yucky for him! So he just watched safely from my arms

It was really neat, and the tongue wasn't slimy or wet or anything, just dry and a little tickle-y. I knew giraffe tongues were black, but they were really black half way, and then the rest pink. And really long!

These giraffes were so gentle and I loved feeding them. I'm proud of Henry too for being brave and maybe in a few years he'll want to feed them himself.

OOOOOOO-

---klahoma where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain
And the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet
when the wind comes right behind the rain.
Oklahoma every night my honey lamb and I
sit alone and talk and watch a hawk makin' lazy circles in the sky

Oh you know we belong to the land, and the land we belong to is grand

so when we say "Ayipioeeay!"
we're only sayin' you're doin' fine
Oklahoma! O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A Oklahoma! OK!

six months of smile

our six month old little Maggie is quite possibly the happiest baby on the block
we get a melt-your-heart smile about every five seconds
she loves to smile when her big brother runs around and acts silly
she smiles as soon as she is picked up out of her crib, and wakes up in the happiest mood
she smiles as soon as she sees a familiar face and knows you're going to come play with her
I'm in love with her smile, can you tell?
I mean, who wouldn't be? It's irresistible

just looking at her smiles makes me smile

yep, sweetest smiling six month old I've ever seen
