Fall Football

our first game as a family of four!

Gabe and I went to the first ND game of the season, which went a little like this: 90 degrees +. rainy, cool, thunderstorm and the first evacuation in the stadium, hang out in Jordan for 2 hours, back to the stadium, play terribly, evacuated again, and about eight hours later, a loss. Crazy.

Gabe has enjoyed watching with his newest buddy! Maggie's football shoes are just too cute!

My babies sporting their jerseys

Aunt Allison and her friends and Becky and Dan came in to visit on a beautiful early October game. The old McGlinn RAs visited their old dorm - a walk down memory lane. One of the girls who opened the door mentioned "no one ever comes back to visit us!" Made us feel good, and still a little sad that the dorm is not old enough yet to have alumni come back and visit.

And of course, we've had a marching band or two!

Gabe was excited to go to the USC night game and I was excited to take Henry to a game this season! As we happened upon some last minute tickets, and with a cooler-but-not-too-cold-and-sunny day, we made our way to section A - 1! (This was very exciting to Henry to be in A - 1!) Headed there, it was really crowded, and I was pretty nervous about staying together. I had talked about holding hands and staying with mommy in the car and he said matter of factly, "I know Mommy I know." And he sure did hold my hand the whole way. I think he was pretty overwhelmed by all the people outside and inside the stadium too. He looked up with awe as we walked through the gates, clapped to the band, cheered "We Are ND!" and asked lots of questions. One of the most interesting things (and what he said later was his favorite part) was when a Navy player got hurt. I'm not sure why he thought this part was so interesting, but it was memorable. The flyover was really cool, and so loud. Watching proudlyHe enjoyed his stadium popcorn and water and we had a fantastic time. One of my favorite parts was when I told him the players were headed to their lockers to get ready to play, and he said "at preschool we go to our lockers too." We lasted a quarter and a half, and held hands the whole walk back to the car. It was a wonderful time and I'm so glad we got to experience a game that he will be able to remember and talk about. And thanks Gabe for watching Maggie and letting us go!

and then we picked ourselves some pumpkins

but we'll probably just stick to carving. painting. and Mr. Frankenstein Potato Head-ing. but that will come in a bit.

Last year, Henry looked at all the pumpkins and pointed out the yucky ones. This year, he hopped out of the wagon and grabbed the first one he saw. "I like this one!" For the other pumpkin, we helped him examine some and choose a good one.

This little pumpkin was warm and snuggly with her mommy!

When we got dressed to go, Henry said, "I'm going to wear my pumpkin socks because the pumpkins will like my pumpkin socks!" I'm sure the pumpkins thought the pumpkin socks were great. A little preview of their fate.

And back home with all my pumpkins on the front porch.

We made one a chalkboard because we had some paint already. Cute and Fun!
